the Port Melbourne hosted a great day of reminiscing of past glory, catching
up with old friends, recognising extraordinary achievements & defeated a
long time rival to top off one of the most memorable days in recent club
history. The Club held its Annual
Presidents Luncheon / Past Players Day with a crowd of over 100 people in
attendance, the key functions of the day were to get as many Past Players
back to the club as possible and show them how our Club has grown and
prospered, but the most important function of the day was to reward 3 great
Club people with induction into the Port Melbourne Baseball Club Hall of
Fame. Firstly the inaugural
inductee Kevin Longstaff whom was originally inducted in 2004 at our 75th
Anniversary Dinner, but Kevin was unable to attend on that occasion so the
club took the opportunity to make a presentation to him & congratulate
Kevin in person. Kevin’s achievements list

Thank you for the many years of service you gave to this great club of ours,
your efforts and achievements are admired and greatly appreciated and you
have all played a massive part in molding the Port
Melbourne Baseball Club into what we have the pleasure of belonging to today. Kevin ,
Lois & John each had the honours of throwing the first pitch of the game. To top off what was already a great day our First Nine put
on one of their best performances in recent times in front of a huge home
crowd to beat arch rivals Williamstown 9 runs to 4 in convincing fashion, Co
Coach & Pitcher Ben Burke had a
great day on the mound allowing only 2 hits and 1 run in 6 innings, Ben also
chimed in with a 3 run Double in the 8th inning to seal the win
and put beyond doubt he was the player of the game and a deserving winner of
the Stan Camov Medal awarded to the player adjudged best a field in all Mens First Nine games played between Port &
Williamstown, Samuel Morris had an outstanding game behind the plate to
finish second in the voting for the medal & Ashley Meyers had a great
